3 November 2026 Football Agenda: Fenerbahçe Stunned at Home, Beşiktaş Cut Down Late, Trabzonspor Extend Their Run

Week 10 of the Süper Lig is done and it left plenty to talk about. An unexpected defeat in Kadıköy, two points thrown away late at Kasımpaşa and a winning streak that keeps growing in Trabzon were the headlines of the weekend.
Fenerbahçe lose at home to Göztepe
Fenerbahçe were beaten 2-1 by Göztepe at home. The result leaves them on 16 points and sixth in the table, nine points behind leaders Galatasaray, who are on 25. The man in the spotlight afterwards was Dirk Kuyt. He said he took responsibility for the match and apologised to supporters. Kuyt said the staff had done all they could in preparation, that the team was deeply disappointed, and that mistakes are costly in a results-driven game. He gave no firm answer on his own future, saying his priority was to support the club. On the Göztepe side, comments by coach Stanimir Stoilov also drew a reaction from Fenerbahçe fans.
Former Fenerbahçe coach Tümer Metin joined the debate, arguing that the current squad is not strong enough for a title challenge. That is a personal opinion, but it shows the questions around the club have grown after the defeat.
Beşiktaş fail to hold a 2-0 lead
Beşiktaş led 2-0 at Kasımpaşa but were cut down late, and the match ended 2-2. Trossard put the visitors ahead in the 28th minute and Vlahovic doubled the lead just after the break, in the 47th. Kasımpaşa came back into it through Winck in the 60th minute, and Rafferty levelled in the 87th.
Beşiktaş stay on 19 points, now six behind the top. Dropping two points from a controlled position is a heavy blow for a side with title ambitions. Kasımpaşa move to 17 points and keep their place near the top.
Trabzonspor stretch their run to five
The positive story of the week came from Trabzonspor. The Black Sea side beat Gaziantep FK 2-0 for their fifth straight league win under coach Thomas Reis, moving to 22 points. Stefan Savic scored in first-half stoppage time (45+2') and Ernest Muçi added a long-range strike in the 61st minute. Gaziantep FK remain on 8 points.
What the table says about the title race
The weekend as a whole shows a title race that is still open, though the balance among the contenders has shifted. Galatasaray lead on 25 points with Trabzonspor close behind on 22. Beşiktaş are six points back on 19, while Fenerbahçe's surprise loss, leaving them on 16, has put their challenge under strain. In the coming weeks, Kuyt's position, Beşiktaş's defensive focus and how long Trabzonspor can extend their run will be watched closely.
